Canadian Bank of Commerce
Below
is the Canadian Bank of Commerce on the southeast corner of Lakeshore and
Seventh Street in the 1930's. The Imperial Bank was on the next corner,
and of course, as logic has it, the two banks merged to become the Canadian
Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC).
While the banking company hasn't really changed other than
the merger, the building sure has...
Mr. Ross Gamble, father of Wendy Gamble - president of the
New Toronto Historical Society, chuckled as he told me about the demolition of
the original building, where he hauled the bricks home, cleaned them up, and
built the extension on his Seventh Street home.
